Wheeler Honored as Teacher of the Year

May 17, 2022 Amanda Wheeler a Kindergarten teacher at Talcott Elementary was named the winner of the Lilly Wilson-Summers County Schools Teacher of the Year. Wheeler has distinguished herself as a master reading teacher who uses researched based strategies to reach all students. As a result, her students have shown great growth this year. To build on her classroom work, Wheeler invited parents to her classroom to experience a reading lesson thus allowing instruction to take place at home. She will now move on to competition at the state level.
