Our Schools
Summers County Schools operates four schools and one Career and Technical Center. Summers County Comprehensive High School (2021) (Merge of Summers County High School (1994) and Summers Middle School (1925), Career and Technical Center (1973), Hinton Area Elementary (1980), Jumping Branch Elementary (1950), and Talcott Elementary (2008).

Hinton Area Elementary is home to the red, white, and blue panthers. Constructed in 1980 and located in downtown Hinton, West Virginia, HAE is a PreK through Fifth Grade Title 1 School. Hinton Area has been a participant in the “Leader In Me” program since 2018.
Mission Statement: Hinton Area Elementary will work to prepare students to develop to their fullest potential by giving them necessary skills to become self-directed life-long learners.

Original construction completed in 1950; Jumping Branch is a PreK through fifth grade Title 1 School. Situated between the towns of Nimitz and Jumping Branch, the school is the smallest and has highest elevation of all Summers County Schools at 2500 feet. School colors are Maroon and Gray with a tiger as the mascot.

Built in 2008, Talcott Elementary is the newest of our educational facilities. TES is a PreK through fifth grade Title 1 School. The town of Talcott has the unique distinction of being home of the John Henry Legend.
It is the mission of Talcott Elementary School to involve the personnel, parents, and the community to provide an environment in which individual differences are encouraged and accepted by developing the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical potential of each individual. Talcott Elementary School will provide the means through alternative strategies for every child to be functionally literate and able to employ necessary 21st Century technology for career development.
